PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the final moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
